Red Lobster is closing 163 of its restaurants. The chain has been around for 58 years. This is part of a bigger wave of closures affecting restaurant chains at the moment.

Some spots have already been confirmed. The Palm Desert, California location learned about it on a Monday. The Springfield branch is also closing. The company hasn't put out the complete list yet, and they haven't said when all the shutdowns will be done. The closures became public on 30 August 2026. Diners nationwide will feel the impact.
