His summer tour opportunity comes after Iraola’s first match in charge saw Liverpool overcome Sunderland with a score of 4-2 in Nashville. Sunderland, recently beaten by Liverpool, now appears as a likely loan option for Koumas. The young joined Sunderland’s preseason setup this week but may face tough competition for playing time from other homegrown players. Iraola began his role on July 24, 2026, with Koumas one of several academy talents pushing for greater involvement in the first team.
