Apple has cut 147 Bay Area workers in a rare move for the firm. The workforce cuts target employees on the Siri, Vision Pro immersive video, and gaming teams. These position cuts take place ahead of an expected executive transition at Apple. Bloomberg, Fortune, and the San Francisco Chronicle reported the job losses on 25 August 2026.
Microsoft has also reduced gaming staff at its Hunt Valley location. WMAR 2 News Baltimore noted on 25 August 2026 that Hunt Valley Microsoft gaming employees showed frustration over the mass layoffs.
