Citi Speeds Up Promotions to Keep Junior Bankers

Citi is bringing forward promotion timelines for junior bankers as the bank works to stay competitive against private equity firms competing for the same talent. The move comes as hiring pressure across Wall Street builds heading into 2027.

SIX Securities Services and Northern Trust each recruited custody and investment veterans from Citi. On the equities side, both Citi and Goldman Sachs held sell recommendations on Avenue, whose shares dropped 6.7%.
